How Long Does the Process Take?

Our process takes approximately 10 days. The process starts once you have completed the online donation form and submitted pictures of your vessel.  We auction your boat on the world's largest auction site for 7 days. It typically takes another 3 days to collect payment and arrange pickup but can take longer in some instances.

Do You Accept Any Boat?

We generally will accept just about any boat in any condition, with or without a trailer, working or not. You must have valid title in your name (or if your state does not provide title, your state's equivalent). Your boat must also be properly stored in the water, on a trailer or on blocks. We do not accept boats laying on the ground or boats that have been stripped of all valuable components.

Couldn't I Just Sell the Boat Myself?

Absolutely! But with our process, you don't have to answer question after question and you don't have to show your boat to people interested in nickle and diming you. We make the process simple. And our listings don't just appear on one website - your boat will appear on auction and boat specific websites including eBay, BoatFlyer, Wheelson, AffordableBoatsOnline, BoatClassifiedAds, FishingBoatSetc, eWatchBop, and Rvindex. Our houseboat listings appear on houseboat specific sites like House.RU.com and our Jet Skis link to sites like MotorCycleSearch.com. We also expand our bidding population by linking our listings to sites that translate to Spanish, Chinese, Russian and other languages like LEtao.com.tw. All of these sites drive more traffic to your auction and result in a higher tax deduction value for you.

Does My State Have Specific Requirements?

Title and document requirements differ by state. For instance, your state may require title on a specific kind of boat but the state where the boat is located may not require title. Accordingly, you will need to plan ahead when donating and when bidding on a boat. Click HERE for more information about your specific state..

When Do I Receive My Tax Receipt?

We provide all donors with a tax receipt for up to $500 when we initiate the donation process. If your boat sells at auction for more than $500, we provide you with an updated tax receipt that reflects the actual sale price of your boat. If you wish to claim your deduction, we will issue you a 1098-c in accordance with 26 U.S Code § 170 (f).  For more information about our tax forms, click here.

What Happens if My Boat Doesn't Sell in Your Acution?

Our listings generate thousands of views with many interested parties. Because we use the largest auction network, almost all of our boats sell within the seven day auction period. If your boat is in reasonable condition and has some redeaming value, it will sell. However, we cannot guarantee the removal of your boat within a specificed period of time.  Accordingly, we recommend you have a backup plan for removal in the event we are unable to coordinate pickup.

Can You Expedite the Removal of My Boat?

Yes, but our 10 day process maximizes your tax write-off and the amount of money that goes to the charity. While we can expedite the process, we cannot guarantee the removal of any vessel within any specific time period.  Please call us for more details on our expedited process.
COVID19 may impact our ability to remove your vessel. Federal, State and Local advisories are suggesting stay-in-place is safest for everyone. Accordingly, we are reducing the number of donations and/or delaying some donations for pickup until the travel advisories have been lifted. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work together to beat this invisible enemy.
